Shishio's bio: Shishio
Makoto replaced Kenshin Himura as a secret assassin.
After the Revolution, the Meiji Government didn't like
that one man knew all their secrets. Because
Shishio could have brought down the government by
himself, they tried to killed him. They shot him
and burned his entire body, but he survived. His
sweat glands were now shut and thus his normal body
temperature rose. The increased temperature
handicapped him so that he can only fight for 15
minutes. If he were to go beyond that, he would
burst into flames. While wandering around, he
met a young boy named Seta Soujiro. Seta gave
him food and shelter in exchange for Shishio not
killing him. Seta was weak at the time, and
Shishio changed him. Seta became one of the
first of Shishio's Juppongatana(Shishio's personal
army).
The government
tried to kill him again when they found out he was
still alive, but they failed on all their
attempts. They started bargaining with him and
allowed him to take a few villages in order to keep
him silent. When Shishio wanted to take over
Japan, the government enlisted the help of Kenshin.
Lord Okubo, the man who was running Japan, had said
that he had one week for a decision to be made.
When that day came, Okubo was assassinated by
Seta. Kenshin had no choice and headed to
Kyoto. Shishio first met Kenshin in a village he
had taken over. There he set Senkaka to fight
against Kenshin to see the attacks of the Hiten
Mitsurugi style. Senkaka was only able to make
Kenshin show one of them, the Ryo Shou Sen.
In Kyoto,
Shishio made Kenshin, Saito, and Sanosuke go through a
series of opponents to face Shishio. If Kenshin
didn't defeat an opponent, he couldn't face Shishio.
Seta was the last opponent before Shishio. To
defeat Seta, Kenshin had to use the Hiten Mitsurugi
succession technique, Ama-Kakeru, Ryu-no-Hirameki.
By using it, Seta was able to tell Yumi how Shishio
could beat Kenshin.
When Kenshin
finally faced Shishio, Kenshin was easily defeated and
was presumed dead. Saito, Sanosuke, and Aoshi
all tried to defeat him, but they were no match for
Shishio. Kenshin then miraculously revived and
fought Shishio. Yumi died while helping Shishio
to fight Kenshin. Shishio surpassed his 15
minute limits and his body burned him
inside-out. When Shishio's second-hand man, Hoji,
came to hell, he was found by Shishio and Yumi.
Shishio told him that he would take on Enma, the ruler
of hell. According to Shishio: "The era
sided with the Battousai. That's why I lost the
battle."
